March Evaluation...

.
#1 - My easy goal! I did the Relay, walked about 47 miles in 16 hours and 42 minutes. I hoped to raise $250 and my total was over $500! I hope to double that to $1,000.00 for next year.
.
I have continued to lose weight slowly. Down below 160 for a couple of weeks now. Everything fits on my body and that feels so good. Many of my jeans and capris are hanging on me. I will need new clothes this summer. *wink*
.
My blood sugars are steady. Not below 100 but not rising either. I am watching what I eat and the amount. Counting the chips, Cheetos, Fritos, etc... each time I eat is getting easier. I'm amazed at how much I was eating before. Now, I fill up much sooner and enjoy the fruits and veggies a lot more.
.
2 - I am continuing to use my perfumes regularly. I have flashbacks when I put on some of them (I have a bottle of Avon's "Come Summer" that I still spray on. Avon is kind of like Pillsbury, they all sort of taste the same with minor differences (only smell, in this case)!
.
3 - I haven't bought any more body washes or lotions - just using up what I had. I am almost done with one and I added one more in the shower for variety.
.
4 - No letter writing. This is my main goal for April. I need to get back on track here. No more excuses or procrastinating. I know I will feel very happy and accomplished in this area when I do.
.
5 - I have been crafting and reading for ideas. I made several ATCs and a card and a piece for someone's frame. I have many ideas and want to get things going there. Karl showed me how to digitally manipulate photos and now I need to spend some time with that program. I can do a lot when I figure that out.
.
6 - I didn't scan any photos but I did go through some more boxes. This will be a month for condensing more boxes and preparing to do something with them.
.
7 - One of my down falls. I have slowed down a lot but I still see some bargains and can't pass them up. I do use them now. That's a plus.
.
8 - I didn't reduce 5 boxes in March but I have sorted through a lot of things. This is a daunting task, which I knew. But, I have the momentum going to help me sift through them. I will have a more concrete goal of this for May and the summer. I want to throw away what I can and recycle what I am able to.
.
9 - I have been going throught the CC receipts. Not done yet but working on it.
.
Another month with productivity. I feel good that I can stay on task which is more than I can say for the last previous 5 or so years. Attaining goals isn't as easy as it looks for me but I keep on plugging. I am keeping up with my blogs better than ever, too. It gives me incentive to read how far I have come. I have other goals that I work on that I haven't even put up on the blog, also. The Relay helped a bunch to see how much I can still do when I put my mind to it. The body is an amazing thing! We need to use our resources more than we ever do.
.
See ya in May!

Re-evaluation for February....

.
Okay, so it's March 1st.
.
A good month for accomplishing things, once again.
.
#1 - a continuous trend of health. I am walking regularly and watching my calories much better than the last few years. I still splurge on occasion but not on a daily basis. I read the nutritional information on the labels to get the serving amount and stick to that. I ate my 13 Cheetos for lunch one day last week. It is certainly much less than the normal serving I used to eat...straight out of the bag, one by one, until i just didn't want any more. Now, I know that I was eating at least two servings at a sitting!!! Double the calories. And sometimes, I ate half the bag before I stopped! No more.
.
I fit in my red jeans without any problems and I can wear any pair of jeans, pants and capris that I own (save for the CKs size 9 that I can't bear to part with!!!).
.
At my dr. appt, the nurse practitioner was very pleased with my FBS results. She said I didn't need to keep taking my blood sugar everyday. We decided on once a week. So, I have cut back to that. I had a high reading on Monday of this week after a weekend of splurging. I am back down to a 102 (FBS done on Wed.) so I am reflecting on how easily I can bring up that blood sugar and what foods cause it. It is such a balancing act and I am glad I have it under control....my control. I won't let it control me!
.
My weight has plateaued at 162-ish. Even though I don't record it in my blog, I do weigh myself daily and even more. I figure this month will be the month that I will drop below 160. I can feel it. My clothes are fitting differently around my hips and my waist is shrinking ever-so-slightly. It helps to be doing sit ups everyday...well, almost everyday!!! *grin*
.
The Relay For Life next month will be a challenge and one that I am excited to be doing. My goal is to walk all 18 hours with a 5-10 minute break each hour for necessities. I hope to raise $250 this year and will be increasing that goal next year.
.
#2 - Perfumes have been used regularly. I went through every bottle I own. Goal achieved. March is the same goal - 4 days a week average useage.
.
#3 - Lotions and creams are being used up. I also opened another body wash so I have 4 of those going right now. I like variety and the scents are oh so nice!!! Goal for March is to continue using them everyday until finished.
.
#4 - Ah the letter writing...goal not achieved...at all. I didn't write any letter I said I would. *sigh* So, this one is at the front of the line now. I know I have been thinking about it most of the month but I didn't take the time to sit down and write. For March, I will write one letter by the 7th and record it on my goals blog then reevaluate for the next week. A week by week goal since the month ones didn't work for the last two months.
.
#5 - No crafting in February. I was busy reorganizing other things. This goal is important to me but I guess it wasn't as important as other goals. I didn't write those goals on the blog. I am going to let go of this goal for March and put up some others that are more important to me. Then I will get back to this one in April.
.
#6 - I did scan in the 20 pictures I set out to do. Not only that but I also have reorganized the pictures better for scanning and I am putting my mother's pictures in photo boxes and indexing them so that I can prepare to scrapbook them. I spent quite a bit of time in February doing this and it was successful to organizing space in the master bedroom. I will continue, in March, to set a goal of organizing more pictures 3 days a week until they are all indexed by date. I won't finish indexing all of them by the end of this month. It will be on going. What is hard right now is scanning them because I haven't decided what pictures from each set that I want to keep. My mother took a lot of pictures of various flowers, cloud pictures from airplanes, etc that I want to use in some type of scrapbook about her but I don't necessarily want to keep all of those pictures scanned in for me. So, my goal for March is to scan 20 pictures for the month (not much but doable).
.
#7 - I didn't craft at all as stated earlier. I bought some Valentine's Day things that I put out for the month. Crafting is on the back burner. So, no goal for March.
.
#8 - With that said, I have decided to have a new March goal of going through more boxes 2 days each week. I want to down size the amount of boxes in the master bedroom by 5 for the month of March.
.
#9 - The other new goal is to organize all the receipts with their CC# and file them properly. If I can achieve this goal, I will set a goal for April of starting to go through old receipts so we can start shredding them and make more room in the file cabinet for other files.
.
February doesn't seem very successful by looking at the above comments. However, I did find that I was more productive than in previous years. My accomplishments are felt inside. My priorities are clearer and I think by the middle of the year, I will feel very accomplished. More than in the last 5 years. The goals I set are a guideline and I am functioning better because I have worked on most of them. I don't want to feel "stuck" because I feel pressured into doing only the blog goals. In my day, I think about a lot more than just what is in writing. Some of these thoughts are more important to complete. Overall, I am feeling very good about my achievements and setting a course for success in this pivotal year.

Judgement day #1 - Oh Happy Day!!!

.
The last day of the month is set aside for re-evaluating my goals and deciding what I need to do for the next month. I am please with my results for January.
.
#1 - I am continuing to lose weight, eat more healthy and exercise (walk) as I planned to do. I am not going to change anything there. By the middle of this month, I should be wearing my red jeans and I know that will happen (I have already tried them on - tight but zipped up and able to sit with them on). My eating has allowed my fasting blood sugars to decrease to an average right around 100 which is much less than the 120 max I set for myself but I am keeping in mind that it can increase with sickness or stress so I may re-evaluate the FBS and set a goal of even less for the remainder of the year if I feel that I can do it. My dr. appt on Feb. 11th should show them that I am serious about my health and will continue to strive to fall into the ideal weight category. According to the American Heart Association's web site, I should be between 121 and 153. As of Monday, I weighed 162.5 so I have just under 10 more lbs to be in the ideal weight category. It is plausible for me to get there by summer but I am not going to push it any sooner. Slowly, but surely my weight is coming down and all the good things that go with it, as well.

My walking is on task. I set a goal of 1,000 miles which divided by 12 months is 83.33 miles per month. I have already hit 85 miles for January as of yesterday so whether or not I walk today, i am right on target. January has been a successful month for me "health-wise".

#2 - My perfumery useage...well, I haven't been using them daily but I have used them on average of 3 days per week. So, I guess I would have to restate that goal to using them 4 days per week as a slight step up but not every single day. Doable? - Absolutely!

#3 - Bath & Bodyworks products are being used regularly and I am happy to report that I am enjoying all the different ones there are. Sometimes when I take a hot bath at night after having showered after a walk earlier, I use my creams/lotions twice in a day. No hoarding here! I am on task here and they will be finished by the end of the year at the pace I am keeping.

#4 - "50 lashes with a wet noodle" on this one! Okay, I did join my cousin's myspace to see some pictures and we have IM'd each to catch up on each other's lives just a little. However, I am guilty of not having written a single correspondence of the "snail mail" nature! *sigh* I need to step up to the plate on this one. One thing I have to say, in my own defense is that I didn't schedule any "monthly" goal - just an "over the year's time" one. So, tweeking this goal...I will write 1-2 letters per week for the month of February which will entail 4-8 letters. That is more concrete and doable for me.

#5 - Ahhh...the craft stash!!! My craft room is a hoarder's paradise!!! Okay, I did do a challenge called glue resist from one of the yahoo groups I am on called Next Generation Stampers. (It came out pretty cool, if I do say so myself.) but I have yet to upload my works to the list or do anything with them (they are backgrounds for stamping on). So, February's goal is to (1) complete the backgrounds with stamping to have various cards or ATCs and (2) do the other two challenges on the group called Shining Stone and faux chipboard. (Of course, the web hostess has just put up a new challenge today!!! UGH!!!) I will save anymore challenges for after I finish these.

#6 - Scanning pictures - didn't happen! Okay, a doable goal - scan 5 pictures each week. That is 20 pictures to be scanned for the month of February. (I'm getting used to this "concrete - write it down specifically" - goal thing!)

#7 - January - FAILED!!! I went to JoAnns with my friend Sharon and bought up some Christmas scrapbooking bargains! *sigh* Okay, for February - the goal is to use up four of the things I bought in January (one for each week in Feb.) and do not buy ANYTHING because it is discounted! Only make purchases because of a project I am working on...such as I also bought foam shapes for the faux chipboard techniques (see above).
.
That's it for January. Pretty successful. I see how having written out specific goals and times has made it clear that I can get a lot more accomplished. Click here to see how I made this happen. I plan on doing that even more as time permits. Oh Happy Day, for sure!

Craft goal

.

(7) Do NOT buy anything because it is discounted really cheap. Only buy what is needed for a piece already being worked on.

Picture goals

.
(6) I hope to scan as many pictures as possible this year onto our hard drive that we bought specifically for pictures. This is important for keeping our treasured photos together in a small space so we can take it with us quickly in case of a hurricane, etc...
.
Just a precaution.

Crafts abound

.
(5) That's what I hope to have after I get a hold of all the items I have purchased over the last 10 years. I have a room full of goodies to get into (known in the crafting world as a "stash") and plan on making many items to give as gifts. Also, cards, cards and more cards! I have stamps to make a card for every day of the year. That won't happen but I am going to give it my best shot to deplete my "stash"!!!
.

Dear John,

.
(4) ...or whoever I haven't written to in a long time. I have received many thoughtful cards and notes through the years only to store them away and not return a correspondence. This is the year I plan to update everyone I know (goal) that hasn't heard from me in at least a year. This is a strong undertaking but given a year, I think I can catch up.
